Lobster makes a wonderful scoff.
It is served at restaurants, in many ways and using different recipes.
Generally, Newfoundlanders enjoy lobster best at a location know as ‘Out d’Bay’. There, lobster is boiled to perfection in real seawater on an open fire and served with scallops and mussels fresh from the sea-(similarly, yet separately boiled), fire roasted potatoes, roasted homemade buttered bread and corned capelin.
Choice of beverage would be ice-cold home brew or a 'snort' of Screech.
After the 'scoff' there may be an uproarious sing song with favorites like:
‘Mussels In The Corner’,
‘The Fella From Fortune’,
‘Lukey’s Boat’,
and
‘The Kelligrews Soiree’.
A crying jag may be started by singing:
‘Let Me Fish off Cape St. Mary’s’,
and from the time when were our own Dominion, our national anthem,
‘The Ode To Newfoundland’.
It’s a great time and it’s "some shockin' good."
